Today was our last work day! We were rained out for most of the afternoon. We also didn’t have electric in the house for most of the day. In spite of the rain, the floors we’ve been working on are really coming along. We’ve worked hard and we’re tired, but we’ve also had a great time.

Tomorrow we’re heading to Montego Bay and to Ocho Rios and back home to Kentucky on Sunday!

Thursday was our free day and we went to Negril. We spent time at the beach, went shopping and saw the sunset at Rick’s Cafe. One of the pictures is of the beach in Negril. A couple of musicians sang Bob Marley songs for us (for money, of course.) The others are at Rick’s Cafe. I am told that people from all over the world come out to see the sun set there. There are huge cliffs there that people jump off into the ocean. A few of us actually jumped them.

Here’s a couple pictures of Brother Leon. He made us fish head soup Tuesday night. Some of us liked it better than others…

We got through Wednesday with no rain. It looked like it was going to for a while and there was even some thunder and lightning, but it cleared up.

We are all enjoying getting to know the Jamaican construction workers who are working along side us. They’re a great group of guys. It’s amazing to me that God uses the people we’re ministering to to bless us.

We’re looking forward to today. It’s a free day and we’re headed to the beach!

More concrete mixing today. We were rained out in the afternoon for a while (it’s becoming quite the pattern). Luckily it stopped around 3:30 and we were able to get back to work. I wish I could show you all a video of the cement mixing process. Pictures don’t do it justice and I’m not sure even a video would. Here are some pictures.

Howard pushing a wheelbarrow

This is for Howard’s wife who told him that there weren’t any pictures of him working. Rest assured, he is working hard!

Rain

June 3, 2008 by ekyworknwitness

It has rained everyday since we have been in Jamaica. It rained so hard yesterday that we couldn’t walk to our evening church service. Today it started raining after lunch. We worked for a while in the rain (it was actually a welcome change from the Jamaican heat). We didn’t last too long working in the rain, though. The work we’re doing this week is mostly mixing cement for the flooring and you can’t mix cement in the rain.
